Friedrich Petri (philologist)

Friedrich Karl Wilhelm Petri (born February 17, 1866 in Behrenhoff ; † September 8, 1951 in Greifswald ) was a German philologist and high school teacher.

Life

Friedrich Petri was the son of the Protestant pastor Gustav Petri (1809-1884). He attended the Gymnasium Anklam and the Gymnasium in Gartz (Oder) , passed the Abitur and studied philology , German and Protestant theology at the Royal University of Greifswald .

He was honored with a prize in 1892 for his work Klopstock's poetic language in its development, validity and effect . In 1893 he did his military service. In 1894 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD . On June 25, 1895, he passed the state examination before the Greifswald scientific examination committee. He completed his seminar and trial year at the Greifswald grammar school and at the Marienstifts grammar school in Stettin.

After the probationary year he worked as a scientific assistant teacher at the Marienstiftsgymnasium, at the Schiller-Realgymnasium and at the Friedrich-Wilhelm-Realgymnasium in Stettin. At Easter 1899 he became a senior teacher at the Anklam grammar school. After all, he was director of the Greifswald grammar school and senior teacher . At the age of 61 he was still a corps student , in 1927 with Vandalia Rostock and in 1928 as a corps bow bearer with Baltia Greifswald.
