Live and act

Friedrich Zubrod was born on February 20, 1913 as the son of Adam Zubrod and Maria Zubrod (nee Haas) in Lauda-Königshofen . His musical talent was already evident during his school days , as a high school student in the Konvikt in Tauberbischofsheim he composed his own pieces, which were then performed by the students.

After graduating from high school, Friedrich Zubrod moved to the Conservatory in Würzburg , where he studied piano , violin , harmony and composition with Professor Vierodt. During his studies he also learned to play the organ , which he completed with Franz Philipp in Karlsruhe .

On May 24, 1938, he married Anna Klingert from Oberlauda , and their daughter Brunhilde was born a few years later. After the early death of his wife Anna, Zubrod married Elfriede Faulhaber in 1951.

Because of his diabetes he was denied a job in the state school service, so he became a private music teacher, organist and composer. His poetic streak was also expressed in his poems about nature, home and faith. For several years he led various choirs. He became known beyond the Taubertal through his compositions . Some of his works have also been printed by renowned publishers, of which the "Holy Spirit Hymn" in particular is still part of many festive church services. The 'Tauberlied' won first prize in the 1951 Mannheim song competition.

In 1955 he resigned from his position as choirmaster due to a serious illness that left him blind in the last year of his life . Friedrich Sebastian Zubrod died on December 4, 1956.
