Friedrich Walburg

Friedrich Walburg (born June 6, 1890 in Bremen , † February 1, 1967 in Göttingen ) was a German educator and historian as well as Bremen's senior director of studies .

Life

Walburg attended elementary school and from 1905 to 1911 the Bremen teachers' college . Only then did he acquire the Abitur as a non-student at the Bremen Realgymnasium , the later Hermann-Böse-Gymnasium. From 1911 to 1914 he studied history, modern languages ​​and philosophy at the University of Marburg , the University of Berlin and the University of Greifswald .

From 1914 he was a scientific assistant teacher at the secondary school in the western suburb of Bremen. In 1917 he became a senior teacher ( teacher ). He became a member of the Bremen teachers' association and in 1919/20 the teachers' chamber and teachers' council . From 1920 he led a study group for the illustration of history lessons and he published a series of publications as history in stories , in which Friedrich Kühlken wrote, among others . From 1938 he was a teacher at the Hermann-Böse-Gymnasium.

From 1937 to 1939 he also studied Prehistory with Hans Reinerth at the Prehistory Department of the Friedrich Wilhelms University in Berlin . He has now accompanied various prehistoric excavations on the Dümmer , near Dötlingen and near Wildeshausen . After the Second World War , he headed the Hermann Böse School from 1946 to 1956 and was promoted to senior degree director in 1950. During this time he was the chairman of the regional section of the Association of History Teachers in Germany and, since 1955, chairman of the Bremen Society for Prehistory .

After the end of the Second World War, as head of the “Bremen University Courses”, he was involved in the planning for the establishment of an “International University” in Bremen.
