Friedrich Wiegand

Friedrich Ludwig Leonhard Wiegand (born October 14, 1860 in Hanau ; † January 5, 1934 in Munich ) was a German Protestant theologian and university professor.

After his theological exam, Wiegand worked from 1883 to 1886 as a teacher at the Evangelical Lutheran Mission Seminar in Leipzig . At the University of Leipzig , he was in 1886 for Dr. phil. PhD. In 1891 he received his doctorate for a licentiate in theology and his habilitation at the University of Erlangen . After teaching as a private lecturer and ao. Wiegand became professor for church history and Christian art in Erlangen in 1902 as associate professor. Professor for Church History appointed to the University of Marburg . From 1906 he held the chair for church history at the University of Greifswald . In 1914 and 1915 he was elected Rector here . After his retirement in 1926 Wiegand lived in Nuremberg. He was a representative of modern- positive theology .

The University of Dorpat awarded Wiegand an honorary doctorate in 1902 . He was a member of the Leipziger , Erlanger , Marburger and Greifswalder Wingolf .
