Friedrich Wilhelm Klingelfuss

Friedrich Wilhelm Klingelfuss (born May 24, 1859 in Hamm , † June 21, 1932 in Basel ; resident in Basel) was a Swiss physicist .

life and work

Klingelfuss was the son of Johann, manufacturer of water trucks in Aarau, and Maria, née Wieseler. As an autodidact , he did pioneering work in the field of electrical engineering for applications in medicine. In 1883 Klingelfuss married Maria Scheffer von Bielefeld . From 1896 he turned to X-ray technology and his spark inductors for X-rays were in demand all over the world. In 1910, the University of Basel awarded Klingelfuss an honorary doctorate and his name is listed on the Radiology Memorial .

Klingelfuss died of complications from radiation cancer . He found his final resting place in the Wolfgottesacker cemetery .
