Friedrich Wilhelm Konow

Friedrich Wilhelm Konow (born July 11, 1842 in Mechow , † March 18, 1908 in Teschendorf ) was a German entomologist and pastor.

Konow went to his father's country school in Mechow and Fürstenhagen and from 1857 to the secondary school and then to the Carolinum grammar school in Neustrelitz . From 1865 he studied theology in Rostock and Erlangen and was then a private tutor in Oyle near Nienburg / Weser , prädikant in Damshagen , Gülz near Boizenburg / Elbe and Tessin (near Rostock) and then a teacher at the citizens 'girls' school in Schwerin and from 1873 at the Secondary school in Schönberg (Mecklenburg) . He was ordained in 1878 and became pastor in Fürstenberg / Havel and from 1892 in Teschendorf (Stargard Castle) .

As an entomologist, he specialized in sawfly (Tenthredinidae) and other plant wasps and wood wasps (previously summarized as Chalastrogastra).

From 1901 he published the journal for systematic hymenopterology and dipterology. Numerous publications come from him, mostly on systematics.

Besides butterflies, he collected insects, but mostly hymenoptera . His collection is in the German Entomological Institute , the Zoological Museum Hamburg and the Natural History Museum Berlin. In 1901 he became a member of the Silesian entomology association.
