history

Goodbye Repentance (2012 to 2013)

Hakim Crimea

The band was founded in January 2012 by singer and guitarist Hakim Krim. He previously played with the Växjö band The Scams , with which he no longer felt musically comfortable. Together with the drummer Adam Lindmark from the band Morbus Chron , he rehearsed twice and then looked for other musicians. Since he could not find them in Växjö, Krim and Lindmark decided to move to Stockholm and continue their search there. Finally the guitarist Olle Hedenström and the enforcer bassist Tobias Lindkvist completed the band.

In the year it was founded, the band released their debut single No Prayers Can Help You Now on High Roller Records . For the song, the band shot a curious music video in which you can see the musicians sitting in a living room drinking coffee and listening to the song on a record player . A year later the band traveled to the Irish capital Dublin to record their debut album Goodbye Repentance with producer Ola Ersfjord . The album was released on April 5, 2013. The band played numerous concerts in Scandinavia before bassist Tobias Lindkvist left the band to take care of his other band, Enforcer. Lindkvist was replaced by Martin Nordin.

Heads Held High (2014 to 2016)

In early 2014, Dead Lord played a short Sweden tour supporting Imperial State Electric before the band played their first concerts in Spain and released a split single with Black Trip . Dead Lord contributed to a cover version of the song Would No Be Seen Dead in Heaven by Witchfynde at while Black trip the Outlaw of Riot edited. In the summer of 2014 Dead Lord played at the Rock Hard Festival and the Turock OpenAir as well as a small tour of Germany with the band Noctum . On October 22nd, 2014 Dead Lord performed at the Crossroads Festival in Bonn . Recordings of the performance were broadcast by WDR television on the Rockpalast program.

The band then began work on their second studio album, Heads Held High . In the meantime, the band played a small European tour with Wolf , which was chaotic for Dead Lord. The musicians traveled with their own van , which broke down five times. Nevertheless, Dead Lord never missed an appearance on the tour. Heads Held High was produced by Ola Ersfjord and Nicke Andersson . In May 2015, Dead Lord signed a deal with Century Media, who released the album on August 21, 2015. The album entered the German album charts at number 74 and Dead Lord played at Summer Breeze . Dead Lord went on a European tour with Audrey Horne and Dead City Ruins in autumn 2015 , before another European tour followed as a support act by Danko Jones .

Together with the second supporting act 77 , Dead Lord released a split single in which Dead Lord covered the song Burnin 'for You by Blue Öyster Cult and 77 the song I'm Crying by the Animals . Heads Held High was awarded the German Record Critics' Prize in the Hard & Heavy category. Two European tours followed in 2016 with The Vintage Caravan in spring and with Night Viper and the Lizzies in autumn. This was followed by a tour of Scandinavia in support of Kvelertak and a tour of the United Kingdom with The Vintage Caravan.

In Ignorance We Trust and Surrender (since 2017)

Martin Nordin

In spring 2017 the band traveled to Madrid to record the third studio album In Ignorance We Trust with producer Ola Ersfjord , which was released on August 25, 2017 and reached number 48 in the German album charts. Actress Nour El-Refai has a guest role in the music video for the song Too Late . In the meantime, Dead Lord played at the Bang Your Head festival and toured Europe with the band Night and then with Imperial State Electric in autumn 2017.

In early 2020 the band recorded their fourth studio album. After completing the recordings, the guitarist Olle Hedenström left the band. Bassist Martin Nordin switched to guitar, while Australian Ryan Kemp became the new bassist. The first single Distance over Time was released on May 15, 2020 . The album Surrender will be released on September 4th, 2020.

style

Dead Lord play a mix of classic rock, hard rock and early heavy metal . When the band was founded, singer Hakim Krim wanted to play music with a lot more guitar solos and harmonies than his old band. Krim names bands such as Thin Lizzy , UFO and Iron Maiden as main inspiration . Boris Kaiser from the German magazine Rock Hard described Goodbye Repentance as the best Thin Lizzy album since Thunder and Lightning .

In his texts, Krim writes about everyday experiences, but also about politics , religion and racism . Despite the band name, which can be translated as "dead god ", the band has nothing to do with Satanism . According to Crimea, " to sing about Satan would be just as uncool as singing about Jesus ". Krim chose the name Dead Lord because on the one hand he was an atheist himself and the band name "would just sound cool".
