In Ignorance We Trust -

Ignorance We Trust is the third studio album by the Swedish classic rock / hard rock band Dead Lord . It was released on August 25, 2017 via Century Media .

Emergence

Since the release of the previous album Heads Held High in 2015, the band has regularly recorded new song ideas as demos . The new songs sounded heavier than Dead Lord's previous work. The influences of Thin Lizzy have also been scaled down and replaced by influences from bands like Blue Öyster Cult or Roky Erickson . According to drummer Adam Lindmark, in contrast to the first two albums, the band took more time to write new songs and for the first time wrote more songs than were ultimately used on the album. For a special edition of the album, Dead Lord recorded a cover version of the Motörhead song Stone Dead Forever .

In spring 2017, the recordings for the album began, which, like the two predecessors, was produced by Ola Ersfjörd. Since Ersfjörd has moved to the Spanish capital Madrid in the meantime , the recordings took place there. According to drummer Adam Lindmark, the recording conditions there were very pleasant, as the musicians in Spain had more distance from everyday life and could work more focused. The recordings lasted ten days in total. The band recorded the music live on the first two days. This was followed by two days for arranging the guitars and guitar solos and one day each for percussion and background vocals. The remaining days were spent on mixing. On the advice of Ersfjörd not have guitar amplifier company Marshall used to achieve a warmer sound.

The band shot music videos for the songs Too Late and Kill Them All . The actress Nour El-Refai is in the video for the song Too Late to see.

The album cover was designed by singer Hakim Krim and shows a burning apple , which is supposed to be a parable on the album title. The apple is considered the fruit of knowledge and plays a major role in many myths and historical events. According to Krim, the album title should capture the post-factual zeitgeist. The election of Donald Trump as President of the USA in 2016 fueled Krim's songwriting according to his own statement.

“You turn on the radio and get an idea for a song text straight from the news. You can find blunt stupidity on every corner. People believe in fake news because it fits their worldview better. "

- Hakim Crimea

The quasi-title song Ignorance makes it clear how ignorance is currently gaining global popularity. According to Crimea, ignorance is the breeding ground for racism , homophobia and social injustice. The song Kill Them All is about the political inequalities between the upper class and the lower class. The latter group is portrayed as "disposable" and as a "tool of concern to the general public". The song Part of Me is an apology from Hakim Krim that in his own words he is who he is.

According to Boris Kaiser from the German magazine Rock Hard , In Ignorance We Trust is a “difficult matter”. It is an “outstanding classic rock album that a genre fan should buy”. However, the album would be “a bit of a disappointment” because “the homogeneity of the previous album is not achieved”. Kaiser awarded eight out of ten points. Frank Thiessies from the German magazine Metal Hammer certified the band as having “solid songwriting and an analogue production that breathes authenticity”. Thiessies, however, wished that Dead Lord would “define their retro frame of reference a little further” and referred to a band like Horisont who “show a more progressive vintage development”. Thiessies awarded five out of seven points for In Ignorance We Trust . Walter Scheurer from the online magazine Powermetal.de described In Ignorance We Trust as "the most varied and diverse publication of DEAD LORD so far". However, "the newly discovered joy in experimentation and the approach to more pop-up realms would make the surprise effect and even more the snot of the first two albums miss". Scheurer awarded seven out of ten points.

The album reached number 48 in the German album charts.
