Heads Held High is the second studio album of the Swedish classic rock - / hard rock - band Dead Lord . It was released on August 21, 2015 via Century Media and put the band in the charts for the first time . Heads Held High was awarded the German Record Critics' Prize in the Hard & Heavy category.
Emergence
In contrast to the debut album Goodbye Repentance , the musicians rehearsed more together for their new album and arranged the songs as a band. The second guitarist Olle Hedenström has also written more songs than on the first album, according to singer Hakim Krim. The recordings took place in November 2014 in Studio Gröndal in Stockholm . The musicians recorded the songs live with an analogue tape recorder . The singing of Hakim Crimea was later via overdub added. The album was produced by Ola Erfsfjörd and Nicke Andersson . The album cover was created by Pol Abran.

In Ruins , singer Hakim Krim takes a critical look back at the right-wing government in Sweden under Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt , which was in office from 2006 to 2014. The song Cold Hearted Madness deals with the growing racism in Europe . When History Repeats Itself deals with the Middle East conflict between Jews and Arabs in the Palestine region . According to Hakim Krim, conflict over religions and traditions would only lead to endless conflict.
“This argument is only superficially about religion, but meanwhile the fight has taken on a life of its own. It's all about the power of the fittest, a kind of tail comparison. I think that's crazy. "
In Don't Give a Damn , Krim writes about a musician he knows who plays in a band and Krim only tells which albums his band will record and which festivals they would play at. However, this musician did nothing to achieve these goals, so that Crimea called him a dreamer. Eventually, the said band broke up without having achieved anything. The limited version of the album contains the song Burnin 'for You as a bonus .

Boris Kaiser from the German magazine Rock Hard described Heads Held High as "another classic rock lesson". The majority of the ten tracks would be “an admirable balancing act between fine accuracy and a spontaneous, seemingly easy-to-do attitude”. Kaiser rated the album with 8.5 out of ten points. Matthias Mineur from the German magazine Metal Hammer praised the sound of the album, which "generates analogue warmth and has nothing at all from the cold, roaring, loudly mastered digital productions with which many bands currently would span the arc". The music of Dead Lord would be "a melodious anachronism that might even have turned out a bit too good". Mineur awarded four out of seven points.
The album Heads Held High entered the German album charts at number 74. The German magazine Visions led Heads Held High on their list published in 2019 by the Swedish 55 best rock albums.
