Friedrich Wilhelm Mitschke

Johann Friedrich Wilhelm Mitschke (Sorbian Jan Bjedrich Wylem Mička ; born October 18, 1789 in Reichwalde , † September 24, 1839 in Purschwitz ) was a Sorbian Lutheran clergyman.

Life

Mitschke attended the grammar school in Bautzen from 1802 to 1807. He was enrolled at the University of Leipzig on May 21, 1807 in the subject of theology, but moved to the University of Wittenberg the following year. He was a member of the Lausitzer Predigergesellschaft (Matr. No. 123) in Leipzig . In 1807 he followed his Upper Lusatian schoolmates Christian Friedrich Stempel and Johann Lehmann and was a founding member of the Corps Lusatia with them .

From 1810 to 1814 he was a private tutor in Bautzen . In 1814 he was ordained a deacon , from 1817 he was pastor at St. Michael in Bautzen, from 1826 finally pastor in Purschwitz as his father's successor.

He died there on September 24, 1839 and was buried with a Sorbian and German sermon. He was married to Karoline Hilbenz from Bautzen, they had a son and several daughters.
