Hohenmühringen Castle

Life

After taking over the inheritance of his father, who died in 1856, Münch had Hohenmühringen Castle expanded in the neo-Gothic style of historicism by Johann Georg Rupp , building inspector for the city of Reutlingen . Of the original palace complex, only parts of the palace chapel and the new Renaissance building in the outer bailey have been preserved. After the renovation, Hohenmühringen became the headquarters of the Münch family. Filseck was used as a summer residence. In 1858, Münch finally sold the Aystetten estate to Paul von Stetten, who was distantly related to him.

Münch, who was interested in the history of Hohenmühringen, planned to have the history of the palace written by the historian Ludwig Schmid . However, this plan was ultimately not implemented.

After Münch's death, his eldest son Oskar Karl Freiherr von Münch inherited the Hohenmühringen and Filseck castles.
