Count Friedrich von der Schulenburg (born February 10, 1769 in Angern ; † May 16, 1821 in Magdeburg ), actually Friedrich Christoph Daniel Graf von der Schulenburg, was an administrative lawyer in the Kingdom of Prussia . From 1816/18 to 1821 he was the first regional president of the administrative district of Magdeburg in the province of Saxony . He was a knight of the Order of St. John .

origin

Friedrich Graf von der Schulenburg came from the House of Angern of the White Line of the Brandenburg - Prussian noble family von der Schulenburg . Alexander Friedrich Christoph von der Schulenburg (1720–1801), Friedrich's father, died in 1801. His mother Luise Eleonore (1743–1803) was born from Bismarck . He was the eldest son of the couple's seven children. His younger brother was the Prussian Lieutenant General Joseph Ferdinand Adolf Achaz von der Schulenburg (1776–1831).

Life

From 1785 to 1789 he attended the school at Kloster Berge near the city of Magdeburg. Schulenburg then studied law and political science at the University of Halle . After graduating, he became in 1793 District of II. Wood circle of the Kingdom of Prussia associated Duchy of Magdeburg . Between 1801 and 1804 Schulenburg temporarily resigned from civil service in order to look after the family's goods after the death of his father. In 1804 he took up the service again and after a short period in the War and Domain Chamber in Magdeburg became chamber director in Warsaw . Then Schulenburg worked during the time of the Kingdom of Westphalia in a commission to regulate the ownership of domains based in Magdeburg. In the time of the Wars of Liberation , he then headed the organization of the Landwehr in the Altmark . After the establishment of the Prussian province of Saxony, he was appointed the first president of the government in Magdeburg.

Sources indicate that in the early days of the Province of Saxony there were still unclear competencies between the President of the Province and the District President of Magdeburg. This explains why the Oberpräsident Friedrich von Bülow also acted as district president during this time. After Schulenburg's death in 1821, both offices were carried out in personal union.
