Alexander Friedrich Christoph von der Schulenburg since 1753 Graf von der Schulenburg (* 5. August 1720 in Schricke ; † 13. September 1801 in Angern ) was an imperial colonel of cavalry and landowner, by King Friedrich II. Of Prussia to the rank of count has been raised.

Life

He came from a family widespread in Prussia and Electoral Saxony and belonged to the Burgscheidungen and Kirchscheidungen line . He was born in 1720 at Schricke Castle, which was parish in Wolmirstedt , and died in 1801 of a stroke. His parents were the captain on Angern , Heinrich Hartwig von der Schulenburg and Katharina Sophia von Tresckow from the Schlagenthin family , he was their youngest son. His older siblings were u. a. Hans Hartwig von der Schulenburg , Levin Friedrich , Johann Christoph Daniel, Christoph Daniel and Daniel Joachim Friedrich von der Schulenburg. Only he was raised to the rank of count, although he had initially failed to obtain this diploma for a not inconsiderable fee. It was only after lengthy negotiations in Magdeburg that between 1769 and 1771 he was awarded such a diploma as a count.

As was common with the leading Brandenburg-Prussian and Electoral Saxon aristocratic families, Schulenburg embarked on a military career. He went into imperial service and was first Rittmeister in 1753. As such, he was raised to the rank of Count of Prussia. The promotion to major is documented for the year 1758. The following year he was appointed colonel of the cavalry in the emperor's army.

The latter's younger brother was the Prussian Lieutenant General Joseph Ferdinand Adolf Achaz von der Schulenburg (1776–1831).
