history

Fristingen is of Alemannic origin and was first mentioned in 1220 as "Fruostingen". There is evidence that the noble family of the Lords of Fristingen existed until 1464, and they named themselves after the place.

The formerly independent municipality of Fristingen became part of the city of Dillingen an der Donau as a result of the municipal reform on May 1, 1978.

In 2011, a start was made on connecting the Fristingen district to a new local heating network, which is operated by a specially founded cooperative. The project was initiated by the residents of Fristingen themselves and promoted in many areas on a voluntary basis. This means that more than 100 households in Fristingen can be supplied with local heating.
