Schretzheim is a district and a district of the large district town of Dillingen on the Danube in the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia , which extends on both sides of the Egau and connects to the northeast of Dillingen.

geography

Schretzheim is 431  m above sea level. NHN ( Catholic parish church Maria Rosenkranzkönigin ) on the high terrace level of the Danube . On its western outskirts the Zwerg or the Zwergbach flows into the Egau.

history

Schretzheim goes to an Alemannic foundation of the 6th / 7th. Century back. On the western edge of the village in the Gartenäcker corridor , on the left bank of the Egau, a closed row of burial grounds encompassing 630 graves was uncovered from this period, which suggests that Schretzheim has been a village-like settlement since its foundation.

The place was first mentioned in 1140 as "Screheim", 1256 as "Srezhein" and 1258 as "Schrezhein". Schretzheim was the seat of a lower noble family who called themselves "Lords of Schretzheim" and is attested between 1140 and 1272. In the 13th century, the Counts of Dillingen were wealthy in Schretzheim , whose possession came through the donation from Hartmann V to the bishopric of Augsburg . These acquired further goods in the late Middle Ages and became the dominant landlords .

In 1560 the bishopric owned all 13 farms and 47 Sölden except for one farm and exercised the lower jurisdiction in the village. The high level of jurisdiction and sovereignty lay with the Duchy of Bavaria , which was the successor to the County of Dillingen. In 1505 Schretzheim came to the Principality of Pfalz-Neuburg . In 1783 this transferred state sovereignty and high jurisdiction to the bishopric of Augsburg. Schretzheim was the seat of a Vogtamt of the Hochstift, which until 1788 was subordinate to the Episcopal Rentamt in Dillingen and from 1789 to the Hochstiftischen Nursing Office Wittislingen . Through the secularization , Schretzheim came to Bavaria in 1802/03 with the bishopric .

On May 1, 1978, was community Schretzheim with the municipal reform by Dillingen incorporated. Schretzheim and Dillingen have grown together structurally.

Parish Schretzheim

Parish Church of Maria Rosary Queen

Until the introduction of the Reformation , the district to the north of the Egau was its own parish , the parish church of which was consecrated to St. Laurentius . The district south of the Egau belonged to the parish in Steinheim . In 1551 both districts were merged to form the parish of Schretzheim. From 1637 Schretzheim was looked after by the parish in Donaualtheim . In 1879 there was again a separate parish in Schretzheim. After the old Laurentius Church was demolished, the current parish church Maria Rosenkranzkönigin was built in the southern part of the village in 1898/99 in a neo-Romanesque style.

education

For the time after the Thirty Years' War , a country school in Schretzheim is mentioned, in which the sacristans presumably taught. Classes took place in the teacher's mercenary house. In 1850, the community bought the former episcopal office building from the second half of the 18th century and converted it into a school. In 1903/04 a new school building was erected in today's Schulstraße 11 with two classrooms on the upper floor and the teacher's apartment and the community room on the ground floor. After the construction of an own teacher's house, two more classrooms were set up in the school building. The multi-purpose hall, inaugurated in 1979, is used by the students as a gym. The school is a branch of the primary school in Dillingen.

The former episcopal office building now houses a kindergarten run by the Catholic parish church foundation Maria Rosenkranzkönigin.
