Fritz Fischer (born August 14, 1905 in Hamburg , † March 22, 1945 in Leisuhnen in the Heiligenbeil district in East Prussia ) was a German storyteller and Low German author .

Life

Fritz Fischer lived in the Altes Land , where he grew up. His mother tongue was the Altländer Platt , in which he wrote his first and probably only book, Suur Supp. Een Gropen vull Märken un anner Vertellen , which he dedicated to his mother . The book illustrated by Karl Prahl with fairy tales and short stories was published in 1938 by the Hamburg publishing house Pröpper, and a second edition in 1942 by the Glogau publishing house in Hamburg.

After the outbreak of World War II , Fischer was drafted into the Wehrmacht . This prevented his further literary activities. He fell on March 22, 1945, just seven weeks before the end of the war, in Leisuhnen on the Frischen Haff .

Fritz Fischer's fairy tales and stories are still included in Low German anthologies and published today .
