Fritz Köhler (politician)

Fritz Köhler (born July 19, 1903 in Lauffen am Neckar , † December 20, 1962 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1952 until his death in 1962 he was a member of the state constitutional assembly and then of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

Life

Köhler was a roofer by profession . In 1932 he founded his own roofing company in Lauffen am Neckar, which he managed until his death. He was head master of the roofers' guild in Heilbronn. In Lauffen he was the fire brigade commander, also president of the state association of fire brigades in Württemberg and Hohenzollern and chairman of the working group of fire brigade associations in Baden-Württemberg. Until 1960 he was also the district fire chief of the Heilbronn district .

At the age of 28, the SPD member Köhler was elected to the local council of his home town in 1931 . In 1933 he was taken into so-called protective custody by the Nazi regime . After the end of the Second World War he was again active in local politics in Lauffen and was initially a member of the advisory board and then from 1945 until his death continuously to the Lauffen local council, where he was deputy mayor . He also belonged to the district council of the Heilbronn district.

In 1952 he was elected to the constituent assembly of the state of Baden-Württemberg in the constituency of Heilbronn-Land 2, which from November 1953 was also the 1st state parliament. In 1956 and 1960 he was re-elected with a direct mandate in the Heilbronn-Land II constituency .

Due to a serious illness, he went to the Freiburg University Clinic in December 1962 , where he was operated on on December 14th. The operation came too late, however, and Koehler died in the clinic on December 20th. He was buried on December 23rd in Lauffen am Neckar. Paul Doll followed him in the state parliament .
