Fritz Keller (born March 30, 1915 in Rothenbach near Glauchau ; † May 24, 1994 in Bad Berka ) was a German painter .

Life

Keller attended elementary school and from 1921 to 1929 completed an apprenticeship as a lithographer at the Oskar Werler Art Institute in Glauchau . From 1934 to 1935 he attended the applied arts college of W. Weingärtner in Zwickau. After performing the labor service in 1935, he studied at the State Academy for Graphic Arts and Book Industry in Leipzig from 1935 to 1938, a . a. with Walter Buhe , Arno Drescher , Walter Tiemann , Hellmuth Weissenborn and Julius Zeitler . After a study vacation in Hesse , another degree followed from 1941 to 1943 as a master student of Arno Drescher.

After serving in the war during World War II , Keller was a prisoner of war until 1948. From 1948 to 1951 and from 1976 he worked practically without a large public as a freelance artist in Lichtenstein / Sa. and in Glauchau and was also active as an art teacher in the school service from 1951 to 1976 . Keller is one of the artists of the " lost generation" .

From 1950 he was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR .

Keller's works were exhibited in museum exhibitions, including in Chemnitz, Rostock, Glauchau and Zwickau. He also exhibited in galleries and art associations , for example in Dresden, Leipzig, Chemnitz, Bernburg and several times in Berlin, Erfurt, Wiesbaden, Münster and Heidelberg.
