plant
There are several oil / acrylic paintings by Fritz Koch. But he primarily works with pencil on paper. This results in highly differentiated, detailed, partly large-format, "flawless" exhibits, which are also referred to as graphite pictures.
Motifs
Koch's preferred motifs include sections of modern agricultural landscapes (corn, beet, potato fields, etc.), as well as imaginations of “extensive primeval conditions”, that is, landscapes without traces of human intervention. This subject area includes works such as “ Tunguska ” (2015) and “Behind Tobolsk ” (2017–18).
In addition, there are individual objects from flora and fauna, which here, in the physical-chemical process of their decay, seem to float between microcosm and macrocosm . Dissolution and formation are represented as a mutually dependent process, as a natural cycle in which organisms change their shape, dissolve in order to produce something new.
Under the heading “Cosmos in the dirt” Dieter Asmus describes the shapes and textures of Koch's work. He speaks of the “microcosm of earth structures” that opens up and makes the viewer think more about space the closer he gets to the picture. In the illustration of a disintegrating puffballs from the year 2018 that the name " Comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko" ( Churyumov-Gerasimenko bears), this aspect is addressed in the title. Koch also verbally expresses that it is about the fixation of all-encompassing, universal structures that develop in interstellar processes as well as in the gradual dissolution of a Bovist.
meaning
His works bring together aesthetic perception and scientific findings, so that contemporary landscape images are created. The writer Brigitte Kronauer : "But the fantasy of today's natural science in connection with the ´factum of possible mortality´ of all beings and their change of form has probably never been as clear as with this draftsman."
