Friedrich "Fritz" Koselka (born July 24, 1905 in Graz , † July 31, 1978 in Vienna ) was an Austrian film journalist and screenwriter .

Live and act

The son of the editor Andreas Koselka studied German and English at the University of Graz and also attended the Academy for Music and Performing Arts . Koselka then took his first steps as a stage actor, cabaret artist and songwriter, but only found his true calling in writing film scripts. Koselka wrote, from 1943 mostly in collaboration with his one year older wife Lilian Belmont, a number of manuscripts on classical Viennese comedies, in which Hans Moser and / or Paul Hörbiger often played the leading role. Some of these comedy materials were great successes with audiences, including Anton the Last , My Daughter Lives in Vienna , To Be God's Dear Lord and The Holiday Child .

Such films were often directed by EW Emo, who is known for his comedies . For the retrospective 1948 - Austria between Yesterday and Tomorrow at the Filmarchiv Austria in October 2018 in Vienna, curator Olaf Möller wrote, for example, about Alles Läge (script: Koselka / Belmont, director: Emo): “When 1948 is the year of Alexander Lernet in upscale entertainment -Holenia , then for its more popular version it should be that of Lilian Belmont and Fritz Koselka: In addition to Alles Lüge , the duo was also responsible for Kleine Melodie aus Wien . The Schwank demonstrates - despite the existing melancholy streak of all creative main participants - a sense for the brusquely thigh-thumping. There is the grandma with money and whimsy, the granddaughter who wants to go her own way and the hunchbacked relatives who live quite well from the financial donations from the old lady ... "

After the war , when Koselka worked full-time as a film editor for the Wiener Zeitung , the Koselka / Belmont couple only wrote film manuscripts until 1952.
