Fritz Lützenberg

Fritz Lützenberg (born May 9, 1901 in Weimar ; † December 13, 1974 in Berlin-Pankow ) was a German agricultural scientist. He worked in the GDR and did research especially on poultry and fur farming.

Life

Lützenberg studied agriculture at the Thuringian State University . On December 8, 1922, he was reciprocated in the Corps Saxonia Jena . In 1925 he passed the diploma and state examination as animal breeding manager. He went to Mecklenburg as an animal breeding manager . In Schwerin an der Warthe he was an agricultural councilor. From the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn he was awarded a Dr. agr. PhD. Until 1945 he was managing director of a herd book company . From 1946 to 1952 he was the main consultant for cattle breeding in the German Central Administration for Agriculture and Forestry in the Soviet zone of occupation. At the same time he was head of department at the Institute for Animal Breeding Research Dummerstorf of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of the GDR . In 1955 he completed his habilitation in Jena. In 1956 he was appointed professor for small animal breeding at the agricultural and horticultural faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin . He was commissioned to set up and manage an institute for poultry and fur breeding with the test stations in Blumberg (Ahrensfelde) and Strausberg . Walter Ulbricht congratulated him on his 60th birthday. In 1966 he retired. His successor was Klaus Löhle , who had also come from Jena. In 2001, the Humboldt University commemorated Lützenberg's 100th birthday with a ceremony.
