Fritz Lošek

Fritz Lošek (born March 9, 1957 in St. Pölten ) is an Austrian Latinist and state school inspector in Lower Austria .

Life

Growing up in Statzendorf , Lošek attended the Piarist High School in Krems , where he graduated in 1975. He then studied Classical Philology and History at the University of Vienna and later Middle Latin at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich ; In 1991 he qualified as a professor for Middle Latin Philology and Source Studies with a thesis on the early medieval historiography of Salzburg.

From 1979 to 1983 Lošek worked for the Middle Latin Dictionary of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences in Munich. He began his career in 1984 as a teacher of Latin , Greek and history at the Piaristengymnasium Krems . After more than twenty years of professional activity, he took over the management of this school from 2002-2004.

In 1994 Lošek revised the Stowasser , the leading Latin-German dictionary in Austria; it is thus as its With editor out. In 2016 he published another revision of this dictionary.

Lošek is the Lower Austrian provincial school inspector for Latin and a lecturer for Middle Latin , subject didactics and school development at the University of Vienna .

Since 2017 he has been Spiritus Rector of the College "Network Latin" of the Oldenbourg Verlag .
