Fritz Seel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fritz Seel (actually Friedrich Seel ; born September 21, 1915 in Augsburg ; † October 11, 1987 in Munich ) was a chemist and long-term full professor of inorganic chemistry in Saarbrücken .

Life

He studied chemistry at the Technical University of Munich . After doing his doctorate and habilitation under Walter Hieber , he became a lecturer in 1944 and an adjunct professor at the TH Munich in 1951. In 1952 the University of Würzburg appointed him associate professor. In 1957 he followed the call of the Technical University of Stuttgart and finally took over a full professorship at the University of Saarbrücken in 1960 , where he was also institute director. In 1982 he was elected a corresponding member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences .

He also dealt with nitrosyl compounds and established the nitrosyl shift theorem. This supplies isoelectronic series of metal carbonylnitrosyls with which Seel was able to predict new compounds.
