Location of Frohental in Wuppertal

The location of Frohental (spelling until around 1927: Frohenthal ) in the Schrödersbusch residential area in the Vohwinkel district of Wuppertal goes back to an old court.

location

The Hofschaft is located in the east of the district, on a slope sloping to the north that ends in the lower northeast area on the banks of the Wupper .

Neighboring locations are: Hammerstein , Schrödersbusch , Mühlenpfad , Steeger Eiche , Schieten and Boltenheide .

etymology

The origin of the name Frohental probably goes back to 'Frondal' ( Old High German = frone = "belonging to the Lord").

history

As a small Kotten, Frohental was probably not created until after 1830.

Frohental belonged to the mayor's office of Sonnborn , separated from Haan in 1867 , which was transferred to the municipality of Vohwinkel in 1888, losing territory to Elberfeld .

In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland from 1888, a house with 17 inhabitants is given.

On the maps from 1892/94 onwards, the court is indicated by name. While the Hofschaft was previously accessed from the north (today's Werderstrasse) and from the west (from the Mühlenpfad), access from the north ceased to exist around 1938. With the construction of the feeder north of the Hofschaft, as state road 418 , from the federal highway 46 to the Kiesberg tunnel in the late 1960s, access is only possible from the west, just behind a road bridge over the state road.

Today's street

The street Frohental is named after this location . It opens up the Hofschaft from the Mühlenpfad street.
