The third Asian women's soccer championship was scheduled for 1979, but was held in Kozhikode ( India ) from January 11 to 21, 1980 . With Western Australia and North and South India, regional teams that were not members of the AFC and whose games are not recognized by FIFA as international matches also took part. The winner was defending champion Taiwan (Chinese Taipei) with a 2-0 final victory over South India .
