The 12th Asian women's soccer championship was held in the Philippines from November 7th to 21st, 1999 . The venues were Bacolod City , Barotac and Iloilo . China won for the seventh time in a row after beating Taiwan 3-0 .

There were no qualifiers for this tournament. The fifteen teams were divided into three groups of five. Within the preliminary round groups, each team plays each other once. The group winners and the group runner-up with the best points reach the semi-finals. The semi-final winners reach the final, the semi-final losers play for third place.
