Cries of the Night ( Funeral Home ) is a thriller by Canadian director William Fruet from the year 1980 .

16-year-old Heather is going to see her grandmother in the country over the summer holidays to help her open a guesthouse. She lives in a large house that used to be a funeral home outside of town. The reunion between Heather and her grandmother is great. But happiness doesn't last long. Horrible things happen in the house at night. Eerie voices can be heard from the cellar, which is always locked, a strange black cat sneaks around the house and soon the first boarders disappear.

Heather and her new boyfriend Rick are investigating the matter. Soon they stumble into a horrific secret. Heather's grandmother disappeared eleven years ago ... a cruel man who locked all the neighborhood children in the dark basement of the house. Heather's grandmother went mad and when she caught her husband with another woman, they killed both of them. She became sick from the terrible loss.
