Furthof is one of the five villages in the Lower Austrian community of Hohenberg .
The village is located north of the main town Hohenberg in the valley of the Unrechttraisen . The town was once shaped by the Furthof file factory , which belonged to Jakob Fischer , among others , who ran several iron-processing factories around Hohenberg. VOEST Alpine St. Aegyd later took over these works. File production was discontinued in 1982 and plastic products were manufactured at the Furthof site. For lack of success, the production facilities were sold to Roth-Technik Austria in 1986 , which had to close the production facility in Furthof.
In Furthof there is a stop on the Traisen – Kernhof railway line , which is only used sporadically, mostly for wood transports or for company traffic. Regular passenger traffic ceased in the 2000s.
