Futuresport is a 1998 action and science fiction film , released for ages 16 and up, starring Dean Cain , also known as Superman ; Wesley Snipes , who also plays in Money Train, and Vanessa L. The action takes place in 2025 and it's all about the new sport: "Futuresport", a combination of basketball and hockey . Hoverboards and inline skates are available as equipment for the "athletes" . The sport was "invented" to wage "non-fatal" gang warfare on the field. In this field, the protagonist “Tre” and his team have to save the world from the terrorists of the “Hawaiian Liberation Organization” by winning the game.

Portions of the film were shot in the Vancouver Public Library . Futuresport had a budget of nine million dollars, which was very high for a TV-only movie at the time.
