C. Göran Andersson (born June 7, 1951 in Malmö ) is a Swedish electrical engineer and physicist .

biography

Göran Andersson studied at Lund University in southern Sweden and completed his master's degree in technical physics in 1975 . In 1980 he also received his doctorate in mathematical physics in Lund .

Between 1980 and 1986 he worked first as a research engineer, from 1985 also as group leader of the specialist group for high-voltage direct current transmission (HVDC) at ASEA , now ABB , in Ludvika, Sweden. There he was involved in studies for the HVDC connection of the Itaipú dam in Brazil . From 1986 to 2000 he was professor for electrical energy systems at the Royal Technical University (KTH) in Stockholm . In 2000, Andersson then moved to ETH Zurich .

Awards and memberships

Göran Andersson is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering (1992) and the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (1994), Fellow of the IEEE (1997), member of the Royal Physiographical Society in Lund (2010) and the Swiss Academy of Technical Sciences (SATW ) (2015) and foreign member of the National Academy of Engineering (2016).

In 2013 he was awarded the Order of Charles XIII by the King of Sweden . recorded, reserved for Freemasons .
