Günter Heine (lawyer)

Günter Heine (born June 4, 1952 in Ravensburg ; † June 25, 2011 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German lawyer and university professor in Switzerland.

After studying law , political science and sociology at the University of Tübingen , he received his doctorate in 1987 on killing for low motives under the supervision of Albin Eser at the University of Freiburg / Breisgau . His habilitation in environmental criminal law took place in 1994 at the University of Basel . From 1994 to 1996 he was Professor of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law and Co-Director of the Institute for Technical and Environmental Law at the University of Dresden . From 1996 to 2000 he taught at the University of Giessen as a full professor for German and foreign criminal law. From 2001 until his death he was full professor for criminal law, criminal procedure law and international criminal law at the University of Bern , as well as co-director at the Institute for Criminal Law and Criminology and board member of the School for Criminology, International Criminal Law and Psychology. He conducted research in the areas of European and international economic and environmental criminal law. He was also known for his comments in the Schönke / Schröder standard commentary on the German Criminal Code from the 26th to the 28th edition.
