Günter Hoog

Günter Hoog (born May 27, 1932 in Hamburg ; † November 19, 2010 ) was a German legal scholar .

Life

Hoog studies political science and law at the University of Hamburg . In 1957 he passed the first state examination and in 1967 he also passed the second state examination before the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg . He became an assistant at the Research Center for International Law and Foreign Public Law . From 1964 he was a consultant for international public maritime law . In 1973 the research center was merged with the Institute for Foreign Policy to form the Institute for International Affairs at the University of Hamburg . From 1964 to 1971, Hoog was also the executive consultant of both the Institute for Foreign Policy and the Research Center for International Law and Foreign Public Law . In 1985 he became a consultant for comparative constitutional law .

He worked as a lecturer at the University of Hamburg.

From 1969 to 1978 Hoog was a member of the Faculty Council for Law at the University of Hamburg and from 1988 to 1994 a member of the Staff Council for Scientific Staff at the University of Hamburg. Hoog had been a member of the church council of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of St. Gertrud in Hamburg-Uhlenhorst since 1959 and became treasurer of the Luther Society in 1995 .

Hoog published in the fields of international , constitutional , maritime and evangelical canon law . His work on German flag law is considered a standard work.

Günter Hoog became the editorial secretary of the Archives for International Law in 1982 and worked in this position for 29 years. In fact, however, he was an editor of this journal.
