Günter Neuhold

Günter Neuhold (born November 2, 1947 in Graz ) is an Austrian conductor .

Life

Neuhold finished his conducting studies at the Graz University of Music in 1969 . Two years of perfection followed with Franco Ferrara in Rome and with Hans Swarowsky in Vienna . From 1972 to 1980 engagements took him to various stages in the Federal Republic of Germany , most recently to Hanover and Dortmund , where he was the first Kapellmeisterwas active. After winning various international conducting competitions (including Florence 1st Prize, 1976; San Remo, Marinuzzi, 1st Prize, 1976; Vienna, Swarowski, 2nd Prize, 1977; Salzburg, Böhm, 1st Prize, 1977; Milan , Cantelli, 3rd Prize, 1977), he began an international opera and concert career.

From 1981 to 1986 Günter Neuhold was music director at the Teatro Regio di Parma (focus on operas by Verdi ) and chief conductor of the Orchestra Sinfonica "Arturo Toscanini". From 1986 to 1990 he was chief conductor and music director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders in Antwerp , which under his direction into an internationally esteemed ensemble was and with whom he numerous tours by Germany , Austria , Italy , Great Britain and France undertook. From 1989 to 1995 he was general music director of the Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe . There he conducted a. a. a Richard Strauss cycle and the Ring des Nibelungen . From 1995/96 to 2002 he was general music director and opera director at the theater of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen . From 2008 to 2014 he was chief conductor and artistic director of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Bilbao.
