Günther Haase (politician)

Günther Haase (born August 6, 1917 in Saßnitz ; † 1991 ) was a German historian and politician ( CDU ). He was chairman of the Frankfurt (Oder) district association of the CDU.

Life

Haase, the son of a Reichsbahn secretary, attended elementary school and high school . During the Second World War , as an officer in the Wehrmacht , he was taken prisoner by the Soviets .

After his release, he initially worked as a construction and unskilled worker. He joined the CDU and became CDU district chairman in Demmin . In 1949 he served as first chairman of the Demmin District Committee for Unity and Just Peace. From 1950 he was chairman of the CDU district association Grevesmühlen and from 1950 to 1951 deputy district administrator and district administrator for economics, later district administrator for health and social affairs in the Grevesmühlen district.

From 1952 to 1953 he was chairman of the CDU district association Ludwigslust and from 1953 to 1954 deputy chairman of the CDU district association Schwerin . In the spring of 1954 he became acting chairman and from August 1954 to August 1961 he was first chairman of the CDU district association in Frankfurt (Oder). From 1954 to 1961 he was deputy chairman of the Frankfurt (Oder) City Council and from 1954 to 1963 a member of the Frankfurt (Oder) district assembly . In the district day he was chairman of the standing commission for social and health services. From 1956 to 1960 Haase was the successor candidate of the CDU main board.

From 1972 to 1984 Haase was chairman of the Frankfurt (Oder) district committee of the GDR historians' society . For health reasons, Haase asked for his release from the position of chairman, but remained a member of the Presidium of the Society of Historians. On behalf of the District Committee of the Historikergesellschaft and the City Council of Frankfurt (Oder) , he and Joachim Winkler edited a volume of articles on the Brandenburg University of Frankfurt .

Haase died in 1991 and was buried in the Rügen-Sassnitz cemetery.
