Günther Severin

Günther Severin (born June 19, 1928 ) is a former German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador to Brazil , Suriname and Venezuela .

Life

Severin, son of a working class family, attended middle school. He studied at the University of Internal Trade in Leipzig. He completed his studies in 1960 with a degree in economics. Between 1951 and 1964, SED member Severin held various managerial positions in the metallurgy trade in the Rostock district . From 1964 to 1968 he was deputy general director in the metal office of the GDR. From 1968 to 1970 he acted as deputy general director, from 1970 to 1972 finally as general director of the state-owned metallurgy trade - external and internal trading company of the GDR.

Severin joined the diplomatic service of the GDR in 1972. From 1972 to 1973 he worked at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the GDR . From December 1973 to 1983 he was ambassador to Brazil, from April 1979 to 1983 he was additionally accredited from Brasília to Suriname. From May 1984 to 1989 he worked as the GDR's ambassador in Caracas .
