Günther Tschabuschnig
Günther Tschabuschnig (* 1982 ) is an Austrian computer scientist .
Career
Tschabuschnig, who grew up in Carinthia , studied medical informatics in Vienna at the Technical University and the Medical University . This was followed by studying information management at these two universities as well as research stays in Washington , Olomouc and Erlangen . At the University of Bremen he is doing his doctorate on open data with Professor Herbert Kubicek .
From 2009 to 2015 Günther Tschabuschnig worked in the Austrian Federal Chancellery and at various organizations as a consultant in the field of e-government . His focus was on innovation planning and management, implementation of IT projects on topics of e-government and e-democracy ( open government data ), as well as cooperation with administration, science and business.
Since October 2015, as Chief Information Officer, he has headed the IT department of the Austrian Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics with a large data center.
Tschabuschnig is a board member of the Working Group for Data Processing (ADV) Vienna. He works as a " Technology Evangelist " at the Cooperation Open Government Data Austria .

Open data and innovation
Committed to the open data movement , Tschabuschnig co-founded a series of conferences that aims to bring together the individual efforts and communities of the German-speaking countries ( DA-CH-LI ). In this context, he is also working on the unification of meta-data standards. In Austria he was involved in the development of the federal mobile legal information system.
In November 2017 Tschabuschnig discussed the future of data-driven innovation projects with the CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise , Meg Whitman.
Honors
In 2012 Tschabuschnig was a co-winner of the eAward in Vienna. In 2013, this was followed by recognition in the context of the Administration Prize Innovation 2013. Furthermore, the Open Data Initiative, which he co-led, won the United Nations Public Service Award 2014, which he received in Korea. The magazine Computer World reported in its issue dated 20 November 2015 Austria's eleven top- CIO , to which they also counted Tschabuschnig.
In 2019 he was selected as the top CIO by a top-class jury and honored by the Austrian Minister for Digital Margarete Schramböck at the CIO Gala of the 12th Confare #CIOSUMMIT .
