Günther van Endert (born September 2, 1954 in Wiesbaden ) is a German television editor .

Act

After graduating from high school in Fulda, Van Endert first studied economics at the Philipps University in Marburg and from 1974 at the FU Berlin German, politics, theater studies and philosophy with a master's degree. From 1982 he worked as a freelancer for ZDF . He later worked in the ZDF main information and press department. In 1987 he became an editor, initially for the program series "The Current Staging" and "Theater Workshop". Since 1994 he has been responsible for an increasingly broad spectrum of fictional programs for prime time on ZDF. Many multi-part events were created in his editorial team, such as Dresden (together with Heike Hempel), Krupp - Eine deutsche Familie , Das Adlon , Bier Royal and Unterleuten. He was the editor of the ZDF - Saturday crime series Ein starkes Team (since 1994), Das Duo (since 2002–2012), Schwartz & Schwartz (since 2018) and Das Quartett (since 2019). The mini-series Donna Roma (2007) also fell into his field of activity.

In 2008 van Endert became head of the ZDF editorial team for television play II. His projects also include historical-biographical documentaries such as The Goebbels Experiment and The Real American - Joseph McCarthy . He was dramaturgically involved in and editorially responsible for the long-running crime series The Public Prosecutor and The Boss on Friday evening as well as for the film adaptations of the short stories by Ferdinand von Schirach with the titles crime and guilt . In addition, he coordinated the Saturday crime series with a total of twelve crime series in 2019. Furthermore, for over two decades he was the editor of numerous television plays (crime novels, dramas, comedies) on Monday evenings such as The Best is Coming , Little Sister , Letter to My Life , Silvia S. , Congo , The Wagner Clan and A Child Is Wanted .

In addition to other awards, Dresden received the German Television Prize in 2006 , and van Endert's East-West drama An die Grenzen received the Adolf Grimme Prize in 2008 . Congo was awarded the Munich Bernd Burgemeister TV Prize in 2010 , and the crime comedy Das Gesetz sind wir , which he edited, received the main prize at the German TV crime prize in Wiesbaden in 2020.

Van Endert retired at the end of March 2020.
