Getec is a German energy service group with headquarters in Magdeburg . In the Getec Group, under the umbrella of the parent company Getec Energie Holding GmbH, six subgroups are united, which represent different business areas mainly in the areas of energy services and the energy market : GETEC heat & power AG , Getec Energie AG , Getec net AG , Getec green energy AG , Getec Warmth & Efficiency AG and Getec media AG . The individual subgroups have specialized in different energy markets such as contracting , engineering and network services, metering point operation, the procurement and marketing of electricity , gas and renewable energies and, most recently, the market for telecommunications services. Getec is active throughout Germany and in Europe. 1,165 employees in around 60 companies belong to the Getec group today.
history
On May 28, 1993, Getec Gesellschaft für Energietechnik und -management was founded in Magdeburg by the managing partner of today's parent company, Karl Gerhold. The company initially developed heating solutions for the housing industry . Energy solutions for industrial customers were added later. In November 1996 the company was converted into a stock corporation and then traded as Getec AG.
Due to the expansion of the business fields to include energy services, various start-ups and spin-offs followed, such as Getec Energie AG in 2001, Getec net AG in 2002 and Getec green energy AG in 2010. In November 2011, the companies became part of Getec Energie Holding GmbH merged. In December 2013, Getec AG was renamed Getec heat & power AG and Getec Wärme & efficiency AG was founded. With the foundation of Getec media AG in autumn 2014, Getec finally entered the market for telecommunications services. In August 2015, the Getec Group acquired the former Imtech Contracting GmbH, today Getec Contracting GmbH.

In the Getec Group, six subsidiaries and holdings are united under the umbrella of the parent company, Getec Energie Holding GmbH .
- The GETEC heat & power , based in Magdeburg is engaged in engineering and contracting services for industry , municipalities and large complex buildings . In the industrial sector, it has focused on customers in energy-intensive industries such as B. the paper industry , the chemical industry , the food industry , the mechanical engineering industry and the automotive industry. The company's services range from full contracting and energy saving contracting to energy procurement optimization and the general contractor model in energy system construction. Getec heat & power AG develops innovative technologies for energy efficiency and environmental protection in cooperation with partner companies, research institutions and universities . According to an overview by the UBA , this area operates several smaller lignite power plants .
- Getec Energie in Hanover develops solutions for electricity and gas supply as well as the marketing of electricity from in-house generation systems. The company relies on the interaction of the three business areas of energy supply , energy trading and energy services. It markets customer flexibility in the balancing energy market and in intraday 1/4 hour trading. It now also covers control areas in the minute and secondary reserves.
- The Getec net AG (Hannover) provides services for the design, construction and operation of power grids, meter operation and measurement services, energy supplies and market processes as energy quantities. The focus is on solutions for owners of property (eg. As shopping centers), companies with a nationwide branch network, industrial companies and public utilities.
- One focus of Getec green energy AG (Magdeburg) is the conception, implementation and use of regenerative energies, in particular the development and operation of systems for generating electricity , heat and gas from energy sources such as biogas , wood , waste materials, wind energy and solar energy , e.g. B. the bio-energy park in Zerbst .
- The Getec heat & Efficient (Magdeburg) is engaged in the development of energy service projects for the real estate industry and area properties. This includes residential and commercial real estate , hotels , public-sector real estate and social facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes . With the establishment of the subsidiary Getec home GmbH , it also offers energy services for private customers. The newly founded subsidiaries Getec Data GmbH and Getec Messdienst GmbH create the possibility of electronically recording and billing all consumption in the building through billing services.
- With Getec media AG (Magdeburg) founded in autumn 2014 as the youngest subsidiary of the Getec Group, Getec's portfolio was also expanded to include telecommunications services for the real estate industry from summer 2015. The subsidiary offers telecommunications services and the establishment and operation of multimedia data transport network infrastructures for the real estate industry. With Smart Home , energy and smart meter solutions as well as telecommunications for recording and transporting energy data and thus for regulating and controlling energy generation systems and telecommunications services for residential properties are linked from a single source.

Social and cultural engagement
Getec has been the main sponsor of the Bundesliga handball players of SC Magdeburg since the 2000s . In 2011 Getec took over the naming rights of the GETEC-Arena , the home arena of SCM.
In the area of cultural sponsorship , Getec has been supporting the "Zinnober" art association for people with intellectual disabilities since 2001. In addition to the financial support, Getec exhibits the works of art created in the rooms of the company building.
The Getec daycare center has been open since April 2014. The day care center is a joint project of Getec, the state capital Magdeburg and Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe eV
Awards
CEO and company founder Karl Gerhold was awarded the Axia Overall Prize for the East Region on January 26, 2015 as part of the Axia Award 2014 from the auditing and consulting company Deloitte . The motto of the competition was "Think sustainably, manage successfully". A total of four winners were awarded.
In 2011 Gerhold was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit by the Federal President . The First Class Cross of Merit was presented by Prime Minister Wolfgang Böhmer at a reception for Karl Gerhold's 60th birthday. Böhmer paid tribute to the entrepreneur's special social commitment .
In 2006 and 2012 , the subsidiary GETEC heat & power AG received the Contracting Award for innovative contracting projects .
