List of fossil-thermal power plants in Germany

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The list provides an overview of thermal power plants using fossil fuels in Germany. The list does not claim to be exhaustive, but contains all power plants from the power plant list of the Federal Network Agency (as of November 2019) as well as the coal power plants still in operation from the list of the Federal Environment Agency.

list

Power plants with the reference to cold reserve were taken out of operation and preserved ("temporarily shut down") by the operator so that they can be put back into operation if market conditions change. The same applies to lignite-fired power plants with the note that they are ready for security , which must start up again within 10 days of the notification of demand. For the power plants highlighted in yellow, an application for decommissioning was prohibited due to their systemic relevance, as they serve as a network reserve or capacity reserve or are otherwise prevented from decommissioning. The ones highlighted in red are among the ten power plants with the highest CO 2 emissions in 2015 in the European Union .

The list also includes district heating storage capacities, as this indicates how flexibly a combined heat and power plant can be operated in view of fluctuating electricity generation from renewable energies .
