The combined cycle power plant Hamm-Uentrop is a gas and steam combined cycle power plant in Uentrop . It has an output of 850 MW.
technology
The power plant consists of two blocks, each with an output of 425 megawatts and an efficiency of 57.7%. Each block has a gas turbine and a steam turbine with a common generator on one shaft; both turbines and generators were made by Siemens . The power plant feeds into Amprion's transmission network at the 380 kV level via the Geithe switchgear . The water from the Datteln-Hamm Canal is used for cooling and then partially pumped back into the Lippe .
After the final investment decision was made in July 2004, construction began in September 2005. The power plant went into operation on January 1, 2008. Around 6.4 TWh of electricity can be generated per year . Since the market conditions for gas-fired power plants had worsened compared to coal-fired power plants, the power plant has been operated in "optimized minimum operation" since summer 2015. As part of the optimized mode of operation, the power plant produces electricity during the hours with a sufficiently high exchange price and is used to provide control energy. Since mid-August 2016, the power plant has been able to be operated again in base load operation on a daily basis . However, market observers consider it unlikely that a sustainable trend in electricity generation has already started.
