development

The engine is a product of the company GE Honda , which has been a joint venture between the US engine manufacturer GE Aviation and the Japanese company Honda since 2004 . It is to be installed first in the HA-420 HondaJet , but later also in aircraft from other manufacturers (e.g. Spectrum S-40 Freedom ). The engine has a fan with curved blades with a large blade depth and is controlled by a two-channel FADEC system. The blades of the fan and low-pressure compressors are made in one piece ( blisk : Bl ade i ntegrated di sk ). The radial high pressure compressor is made of titanium (blades made of a single crystal alloy). The reversing combustion chamber and the high and low pressure shafts rotating against each other are characteristic .

The first run took place on September 11, 2007 in the Honda test center in Tokyo, with a maximum thrust of 9.31 kN being reached. The admission tests should start in 2008. The first flight was announced for 2010 and the first delivery for 2011. The first flight of the machine with the installed HF120 engines took place on December 20, 2010 at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro (North Carolina) . Since there were design problems with the engine, the delivery of the aircraft was delayed to mid-2013.
