The . GMWE No. 1-4, 6 were narrow gauge - steam locomotives of the Mallet design of Gera-Meuselwitz-Wuitzer Railway (GMWE). The Deutsche Reichsbahn classified the four remaining locomotives on April 1, 1949 as the 99.571 series .
In 1901, GMWE acquired three four-axle locomotives of the Mallet type with the road numbers 1–3 as initial equipment for its winding route. As the transport volume increased, two more locomotives were ordered, so that in 1907 five such locomotives were in service.
In 1915, locomotive No. 1 had to be handed over to the Heeresfeldbahn . The locomotive, which was urgently needed for operation, was never returned. A replacement building that was ordered for this reason was no longer affordable for the company in 1919. A Gera consortium therefore acquired the locomotive and lent it to the company. This replacement locomotive received number 1 in a second occupation. Locomotive No. 3 was scrapped in 1926.
The railway, nationalized in 1946, was taken over by the Deutsche Reichsbahn on April 1, 1949. The four remaining locomotives were added to the inventory as 99 5711–5713 (No. 2, 4, 6) and 99 5714 (No. 1).
Between 1965 and 1968 all locomotives were decommissioned and scrapped.
All machines were technically the same, but had slightly different designs for water boxes and cabs.
