The GR 2 (French: Grande Randonnée 2 ) is a French long-distance hiking trail . It leads from the source of the Seine to its confluence with the English Channel and crosses the regions of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté , Grand Est , Île-de-France and Normandie as well as the cities of Dijon , Paris and Rouen . The continuously marked route measures a total of 852 km.

The Parisian section with a total length of 26 km runs from the Porte de Charenton at the Bois de Vincennes ( 12th arrondissement ) in the southeast to Parc Suzanne Lenglen ( 15th arrondissement ) in the southwest of the metropolis.

Over a distance of 9 km, it follows the quays of the Seine, which have been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List . The most important sights on the Paris section are the Parc de Bercy , the new Bibliothèque nationale de France , the Jardin des Plantes with the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle and the Institut du monde arabe . At the height of the Notre Dame de Paris cathedral , the long-distance route offers two alternatives. The GR 2A variant leads over the Rive Droite through the Marais district, the Quartier des Halles , the Louvre, the Tuileries Gardens , the Place de la Concorde, the gardens of the Champs-Élysées and Passy , the GR 2B variant follows the quays of the Seine to to the Eiffel Tower and the Pont de Bir-Hakeim . There the two paths come together again and lead through Parc André Citroën to the outskirts.
