Rive Droite
Rive Droite ( French , German "right bank") describes the area of the city of Paris north of the Seine . In a narrower sense, the Rive Droite only includes those parts of the city that are in the area of the old center.
The northern half of the city, Rive Droite , is traditionally perceived as the business, commercial and banking district, although much of the business has now moved to the La Défense district outside the city limits. There are u. a. the Quartier des Halles and Sentier , a district in which numerous large and small companies in the textile industry are based. In addition to wholesalers and retailers in the industry, there are numerous specialty shops for fabrics, clothes, bed and table linen, leather goods, accessories for textile production and textile machinery.
This is where the Palais Brongniart , which formerly housed the Paris Stock Exchange , and the French news agency Agence France Presse are located. Numerous media and IT companies have their Paris headquarters, as well as a number of start-up companies in the Internet industry have settled there especially in the 10th and 11th arrondissements to the east .
history
In 1313, the first bank fortifications, the Quai de Nesle (today Quai de Conti ) and the Quai des Grands Augustins , were built, at the upper end of which the Pont Saint-Michel was built as a stone bridge. Until the revolution in 1789 , this area was therefore called l'Outre-Grand-Pont . In 1808 Napoleon laid the foundation stone for the Palais Brongniart there , which was designed by the architect Alexandre-Théodore Brongniart . From 1828, with some interruptions due to wars, the building housed the Paris Stock Exchange until 1998.
Since the Quai du Louvre was renamed Quai François Mitterrand on October 26, 2003, a total of six bank sections of the Rive Droite have been named after former heads of state. From west to east:

- Avenue du Président Kennedy , (16th arrondissement)
- Cours Albert Ier , (8th arrondissement)
