Gabi Ohler

Gabi Ohler (born September 17, 1962 in Mainz ) is a German political officer . Since February 2020 she has been the representative for equality between women and men in the state of Thuringia.

Life

After graduating from high school, Gabi Ohler studied German and political science at the universities in Mainz and Marburg from 1983 to 1991, completing a Magister Artium . She then worked as a teacher for German as a foreign language until 1993 . After completing further training as a specialist magazine editor , she worked as an editorial assistant and editor . From 1999 to 2002 she served as Speaker of the PDS - fraction in the German Bundestag employed from 2004 until 2014, it worked as a Research Associate of the Group of the Left in the Thuringian state parliament . On December 5, 2014, she was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport by the newly elected Thuringian Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow . She held this post until her temporary retirement at the beginning of March 2020. At the beginning of July 2020, she was appointed representative for equality between women and men in Thuringia, after this appointment had already been announced at the beginning of February 2020. The post of equal opportunities officer had been vacant since the end of 2019.
