Gabriela Krapf (born February 21, 1973 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss pop and jazz musician and songwriter .

Live and act

Krapf grew up in Speicher (AR) . She graduated from high school in Trogen and then studied jazz and pop singing at the AIM in Vienna and at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam . She has been on the road with her band LOBITH since 1999. The band performed at the jazz festival in Montreux , in the Wabe Berlin or in the Reduta jazz club in Prague. At the AVO Session Basel they played in the opening act for Patricia Kaas . She is also responsible for the music and lyrics for all albums.

In addition, Gabriela Krapf sang as a guest and background singer in various productions such as the soundtrack "the big one" (com & com) or "bersten" (by Michael Finger) with Florian Ast , with the big band The Sound Emotions Orchestra for the album Start Up the Band , as well as Stern & Frei (Warner Music, 2001), DJ Imhoof (Zoom Music 2005) and Sequel ( Sonar Kollektiv , 2004).

As a jazz singer, she recorded the album Little Lamp in 2008 under the band name Krapf , together with Christian Münchinger (tenor saxophone, bass clarinet), Roberto Bossard (guitar) and Kalli Gerhards (double bass), which Peter Schmidlin released on his jazz label TCB .

In autumn 2009 the album Click-click Clack-clack by the duo The Homestories (with Ernst David Hangartner) was released. In this in-house production, Krapf plays organ bass , keyboard and sings. "Aha Aha" followed and the EP's "1 2 3" and "4 5 6". In April 2012, The Homestories were voted “Best Talent” by Radio SRF3.

In 2016 Gabriela Krapf released the album "The Great Unknown". She plays the 12 original compositions with horn arrangements on the piano and is accompanied by the three winds Silvan Kiser (trp), Raffaele Lunardi (sax) and Phil Powell (trb).
