Gabriela Lesch

Gabriela Katharina "Gabi" Lesch (born August 17, 1964 in Sulzbach ), married Gabriela Lesch-Sewing , is a former German middle -distance runner who specialized in the 800-meter distance .

Starting for the Federal Republic, she won bronze at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Budapest in 1988 and reached the semifinals at the 1988 Olympic Games . In 1989 she was fifth at the European Indoor Championships in The Hague and at the World Indoor Championships in Budapest . At the European Athletics Championships in 1990 in Split, she was eliminated in the semi-finals. In 1991 she won silver at the Universiade , and in 1992 she was fifth in the World Cup in Athletics .

From 1988 to 1990 she was German champion three times in a row. In the hall she became champion in 1989 and runner-up in 1988 and 1990.

Gabriela Lesch started for TSV Kirchhain until 1987 and then for Eintracht Frankfurt . In 1991 and 1992 she was active spokeswoman in the DLV and, based on her experience in this office, criticized the way in which the association was dealing with doping problems in 1993 . She is married to Dirk Sewing and now lives in Kirchhain as a housewife and mother of two daughters .
