Gabriele Just (*  28. September 1936 as Gabriele Ortlepp ) is a German chess player .

She won the GDR women 's championships in 1964, 1965 and 1972 and the women's championship of the Open German Senior Championships in 1996 and 2019 (in the 65+ age group). In the 1991/92 , 1992/93 , 1993/94 , 1994/95 and 1995/96 seasons she played for the Spielvereinigung Leipzig 1899 in the German women's chess division . In the 2014/15 season she was registered in this league for the Leipzig chess community , but was not used.

In 1966 , 1969 and 1972 Gabriele Just took part in the Chess Olympiads with the GDR women's selection. She got a total of 17.5 points from 27 games, the most successful she was in 1966 in Oberhausen , when she took third place with the team and came second in the individual ranking of the reserve players.

At the second women's world championship in correspondence chess , which was held between 1972 and 1977, she finished in seventh place. She finished the first correspondence chess Olympiad for women from 1974 to 1979 with the GDR team in fifth place.

Private

Gabriele Just received her doctorate in 1965 at the medical faculty of the University of Leipzig and practiced as a doctor in Leipzig . Her daughter Anita Just won the Open German Women's Chess Championship in 1996 and plays in the women's Bundesliga. She holds the title of FIDE Women's Champion. Gabriele Just's husband Joachim is also a successful chess player.
