Gail Neall

Gail Neall (born August 2, 1955 in Sydney ) is a former Australian swimmer .

Her strongest disciplines were the 200 m and 400 m medley , as well as the 200 m butterfly . At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich she became Olympic champion in the 400 m medley, set a world record with 5: 02.97 minutes , and improved her personal best by 7 seconds. In the 200 m butterfly she was able to reach the finals, but not win a medal. After she could not build on her personal best at the British Commonwealth Games 1974 , she ended her career.

In 1996 she was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
