The Gakushuin University ( Jap. 学習院大学 , Gakushuin Daigaku ) is a university in Toshima , Tokyo after the Second World War, was built as part of the Gakushuin School Corporation. This is the privatized successor to the original public school that was established during the Meiji period to educate the children of the Japanese nobility . Even today, Gakushūin University is often regarded as an elite university , as many students come from influential Zaibatsu or former noble families , but above all because of the traditional proximity to the imperial family .
